CYM's Annual Spring Solo Recital is this Saturday, May 4th

We are proud to hold CYM's Annual Solo Recital Series this coming Saturday, May 4th:

Violin Department Recital- 11:00 am

Cello and Guitar Department Recital- 1:00 pm

Piano Department Recital- 3:00 pm

Families, be on the lookout this week for correspondence from your child's teacher with special instructions for preparation and arrival. We expect all our families and students to be their best as performers and as audience members at the Solo Recital- if you need a reminder of concert etiquette, here is a handy guide.

Each concert is open to everyone- we enjoy the atmosphere of the large auditorium at Marshall Middle School, so be sure to invite your family and friends to enjoy the day full of music. This is a great time to take photos or shoot video.

We will take time during each Solo Recital to honor our CYM graduates as well as our practice challenge winners!

Toddler and Twinkler families, (especially those in Twinkler Transition) this is a wonderful opportunity for your little one to become more familiar with each instrument at CYM and hear students performing at every skill level. This recital is a chance for parents to not only see and hear the different instruments but also to see what their children will be doing in just a few months or years. Even if you are only able to stay for a portion of a concert, it is still an excellent experience!

As a reminder,  There will be no Saturday classes held that day to allow all students to take advantage of the wonderful opportunity to see music education in action.

Please call CYM- 724-935-0505 or send an email to scheduling@youngmusicians.org to reschedule.

 See you all on Saturday!

New! Workshop and Activities Program in the 2013-2014 School Year

Violin play-in at the November Ensemble Recital
As our instrumental students are preparing for the Solo Recital, groups are in full swing, and Twinklers are transitioning, we are already making preparations for the upcoming 2013-2014 school year. This past school year has brought about some fantastic new faces, ideas, and worthwhile programs that have strengthened and benefited our CYM community.

We want to bring those innovative and enthusiastic ideas and energy of our talented staff to the forefront by offering the new CYM Workshop and Activities Program- a series of workshops, activities, and events- directly to our students and their families in the 2013-2014 school year.

Being a member of CYM brings opportunities for learning, performing, and experience that are unique to our community. Being a musician at CYM is an experiential journey. By participating in additional workshops and activities outside of your regular class and lesson experience, you are enriching your child's relationship with music and expanding their horizon of understanding!

By establishing the new Workshop and Activities Program, you are investing in the unique and special contributions of our teachers and encouraging your young musician to "think outside the lesson." We know life is hectic and creates challenges for those "extras." We hope this incentive inspires you to try these awesome new experiences! Here are a few examples of what programs may be included next year:

Does your classical student want to rock a little?
  • Mr. Danny's Beatles, Blues, and Nashville play-in workshops are perfect!
Is your violinist intrigued by fiddling?
  • Ms. Ashley and Ms. Stella are ready to give you a solid foundation!
Want to know what Eurythmics is all about?
  • Join a Saturday afternoon group session to find out!
Need some more engaging home music activities for your Toddler?
  • Ms. Rochelle will show you the way during a special ECM-only session!
Have a special place in your heart for Dvorak or Liszt?
  • Mr. Ryan knows just how you feel. He'll guide you through the travails and passion of historical composers and their musical imprint on today's world.
These activities will be outlined for you- a full year of activities built into the CYM schedule for you to take advantage of- at your choosing. Your first activity participation is included in your Workshop and Activities fee. There will be special pricing available all year for our CYM members. This activities list will be provided to you in your Enrollment packet, which you receive annually in August.

Get ready for a great year!

Concerto Community Concert at Legacy Theater

Join us as CYM and Passavant Hospital Foundation present the Concerts in Community series! The second of three concerts, the Concerto Community Concert, focuses in on concerto pieces. A concerto is a composition for an orchestra (or group) and one or more solo instruments, typically in three movements.

Listen and enjoy as our students and faculty perform these breathtaking pieces together!
