More Summer “Play-cation” Practice Tips

These next two stops on CYM’s “Play-cation” itinerary come from CYM President Leah Givelber.

Tip #2: Draw Challenge
This is a fun way to get through repetitions. Select a piece, or a few lines of a piece, that you want your child to master. Every time she plays it correctly, she gets to add a line to a drawing of a stick figure. For older children, you can erase a line when the piece is played incorrectly. Keep going until your stick figure is complete!

Tip #3: Penny Pinch
This idea is best for the child who enjoys competition. Start with 10 pennies. Give your child one for every correctly played repetition or assignment. Give yourself one for every piece played incorrectly. Encourage your child to keep playing until he wins all of the pennies.

Thank you, Ms. Leah!
